Climbing rattan palm, scandent stems to 40m. Straw-coloured striate leaf sheaths armed with black-tipped spines to 25mm x 5mm, leaves to 2m with 750mm long cirrus & spines on margins, about 20 leaflets per side to 460mm x 53mm. Male spadix to 1.4m long, female spadix to 1.2m long armed with claws. Fruit to 11mm x 9mm with short beak & straw-coloured scales.

Berries edible, cane used for coarse basketware
