Tree or climber with densely strigose young branches, red stems. Leaves to 20mm x 8mm. Inflorescence of 1-3 flowers with bracts to 15mm long, red calyx, calyx tube to 5mm long with lobes to 8mm long, violet petals to 15mm long. Fruit maturing purple.
