Sometimes scandent perennial grass with glabrous stems, glabrous culms to 2m, glabrous sheathes. Lleaf blades 500mm x 10mm, scabrous above with scaberulous margins. Spikes or panicles to 170mm x 50mm, hairy racemes to 50mm, spikelets 4mm long, fertile awns to 10mm or more, greenish-yellow glumes, upper glumes to 3mm x 1.2mm, lower glumes 3mm x 1mm.

Used for forage, & stabilizer
