Twining glabrous rhizomatous herb to 0.5m, stems with minute deciduous bracts. Leaves to 80mm x 30mm. Umbels of red flowers, yellow inside, petals dotted black to brown 12mm long, reddish-yellow sepals 12mm long. Yellow to orange fruit.
