Spiny liana, small tree or sprawling shrub with bipinnate leaves spiny beneath, glabrous above, leaflets to 26mm x 9mm. Terminal or axillary panicles to 1000mm long with bracts to 6mm x 1mm, slightly fragrant yellow and purple flowers, banner purplish streaked, sepals to 7mm x 3mm, petals to 8mm x 4mm, fruit a ridged leathery beaked glabrous brown pod to 100mm x 35mm
