Woody clambering high-climbing scandent shrub to 4m with recurved spines, striate glabrescent stems. Denticulate leaves to 90mm x 40mm, scabrous above, pubescent beneath. Terminal or axillary panicles or cymes of flowers with bracts, yellow corolla to 10mm long. 5-7 ribbed achenes to 6mm long.
