Thorny hairy sometimes scandent shrub or small tree with pubescent spiny stems,recurved thorns to 15mm. Leaves glabrous above & pilose beneath to 210mm x 95mm.Terminal or axillary several to many-flowered cymes or corymbs to 40mm x 45mm with villous or pubescent bracts to 3mm long. White or yellow flowers, 5 villous sepals 1mm long, villous calyx tube to 4mm, 5 glabrous mucronulate petals 7mm long, corolla tube to 24mm long x 4mm glabrous both surfaces, lobes to 9mm x 4.4mm. Black pilose or glabrous berry to 12mm diameter.
