Tendril liana, scandent tree or shrub with branches becoming glabrous & lenticellate. Leaves silvery-downy beneath, pubescent or glabrate above to 150mm x 75mm. Terminal or axillary panicles or racemes with bracts & bractlets to 1.5mm long, of 17mm diameter pink to yellow fimbriate flowers, pubescent sepals to 4mm long, petals to 7mm, larger petals to 10mm long, all clawed. Red to purple samaras 30mm x 50mm, brown fruit with thorns.
