Shrub or liana to 8m with pubescent branches. Leaves to 115mm x 30mm, glabrous above, pubescent beneath. Axillary and terminal, few-flowered cymes, fragrant flowers, sepals 3mm long, corolla tube to 6.5mm long, white or cream, sometimes with black spots, inside red-striped, lobes to 8mm x 5mm, grey-pubescent outside, glabrous within. Rusty-brown follicles to 500mm x 50mm.

Sap used as fish poison, used for binding, making snares
