Dioecious erect prostrate or scandent shrub with 3-winged stems, wings to 100mm x 25mm. Leaves reduced to scales. Pseudospikes forming apical or axillary panicles, male capitula to 5mm x 4.5mm with up to 40 florets, 5-lobed corolla to 3mm, female capitula to 6mm x 5mm with up to 60 florets, corolla to 3.5mm. Straw-coloured 8-ribbed fruit to 1.5mm x 0.5mm with pappus to 4.5mm
