Scandent bamboo with erect culms to 4m mottled purple. Leaves to 200mm x 50mm, glabrous above, scabrous beneath. Panicles to 200mm x 200mm, spikelets to 25mm long, lower glume to 5mm, upper glume to 10mm, lemma to 15mm long.
