Erect rhizomatous perennial bamboo with scandent tips, woody yellow culms to 6m tall. Scabrous leaves to 130mm x 18mm. Inflorescence a purple panicle to 130mm long, spikelets to 15mm long, lower glume 1.5mm long, upper glume 3mm long, fertile lemma to 6mm long, 3 lodicules.
