Sometimes climbing dioecious subshrub with spines to 8mm, stems to 2m, angled branches with spines to 5mm. Cladodes in fascicles of 3-14, 20mm x 1mm. 2.5mm yellowish-green male flowers in clusters of 2-4. Fruit a berry to 6mm diameter.
Root has medicinal uses.
