Climber or tall twining herb to 1.25m with tuberous roots, spiny stems & branches. Not climbing in China. Cladodes in whorls of 2-6, 5mm x 6mm, white to greenish or reddish solitary or paired axillary flowers. Black berry 6mm diameter.
