Dioecious rhizomatous herb to 1m, climbing by spines to 2mm or leaf spurs. Leaves in fascicles, cladodes in groups of 4-10. to 12mm x 0.5mm. Pale purplish brown 7mm male flowers, female flowers to 3mm, Red berry to 7mm diameter.
