Shrubby scrambling vine with aromatic stems, small tree or liana to 20m, glabrescent branches, hooks on stem. Coriaceous leaves fragrant when crushed, to 140mm x 60mm, glabrous above & sparsely strigoe beneath. 1-9 or more creamy- yellow flowers red at base with bracts, sepals to 2.5mm long, deep yellow cream or greenish petals 12mm long. Oval fruit red to 15mm x 9mm, fruit green mottled greenish-white when immature.
Roots boiled & drunk as tonic, edible fruit
