Perennial woody liana to 12m with glabrescent branches, mature stems with fissured bark. Leaves to 315mm x 125mm, glabrescent above, villous beneath. Cymes of1-2 flowers on old woody stems and young branches, brcteole to 4.5mm x 2mm, horseshoe-shaped flower to 75mm, purple red & brown-hirsute outside with purple veins, glabrous to white-villous inside, utricle to 25mm x 13mm opening to 18mm at apex, tube 85mm x 20mm, 3-lobed limb to 48mm x 44mm.
