Climbing shrub with white-tomentose striate stems. Coriaceous leaves to 200mm x 100mm, glabrous above, densely white-villous beneath. Cauliflorous racemes 3 to 5 flowers with bractlets to 3mm, purple-red calyx to 50mm, white-villous tube to 20mm x 8mm, 3-lobed limb to 25mm diameter.
