Perennial woody liana with stems villous when young, corky and glabrous when older. Leaves to 140mm x 60mm, glabrous above, yellow-brown villous beneath. Terminal solitary flowers with a bracteole to 3mm x 2mm, flowers yellow-brown hirsute to 35mm long, utricle to 18mm x 8mm, tube to 10mm x 50mm, 3-lobed limb to 30mm diameter, purplish pink both sides.
