Herbaceous climber to 1m with woody carrot-like rootstock. Leaves sparsely pubescent or almost glabrous to 110mm x 150mm. Axillary solitary purple flowers to 25mm long, utricle to 5mm x 4mm, tube to 5mm long, limb to 12mm long. Brown fruit to 15mm x 10mm.

Leaves with nauseating smell when crushed
