Herbaceous twiner to 40m or glabrous scandent shrub with corky bark and longitudinally ridged or fissured lenticellate stems. Coriaceous lobed leaves to 240mm x 210mm, glabrous above, puberulous beneath. Axillary or cauligerous racemes to 4 flowers, hairy bracts to 5mm long, 20mm long purple-brown flowers. 35mm x 15mm sometimes ridged, glabrous capsule.
