Liana to 50m with glabrescent slightly flattened branches. Glabrescent coriaceous leaves to 400mm x 120mm. Axillary pubescent racemes to 20mm long with bracts on old stems or in axils of leaves, dark purple flowers with yellow stripes & a yellow throat, utricles to 30mm x 8mm, tube to 45mm x 6mm, 3-lobed limb to 30mm diameter x 10mm long. 6-ridged glabrous capsule to 150mm x 40mm.
