Slender vine to 30m. Leaves to 400mm x 140mm with twining petioles,glabrous above, hairy beneath. Cauligerous inflorescence, flower to 60mm long, tube to 30mm x 9mm, slightly contstricted below throat then flaring to 28mm diameter, lobes to 40mm long x 1.5 fused at apex by maroon filaments expanding to 3mm, outer surface with pink & purpel hooked hairs, deep surface inside, otherwise yellow or purple. Fruit bright orange to 80mm x 35mm with 6 longitudinal ribs.
