Sometimes scandent shrubby climber to 5m with slightly zigzag hairy stems. Coriaceous leaves to 90mm x 60mm with mucronate-dentate margins, glabrous above & puberulent beneath. Axillary & terminal ebracteate cymose panicles, pistillate heads to 6.4mm x 4mm with 8-22 pistillate flowers with corolla to 2.4mm long with purple apex & 1-4 hermaphrodite flowers, corolla to 2.9mm, white to yellow-brown tipped pink or purple. Staminate heads 4mm x 3.5mm with 15-24 hermaphrodite disc flowers, tube to 1.8mm long & limb to 1.9mm long.Staminate flowerswith corolla to 3.2mm long, densely hairy tube to 2mm long & purple lobes to 1.2mm long. Hispid achenes to 1.9mm long with brownish pappus to 4mm long.
