Slender woody scrambling vine to 3m or erect herb with striate hairy branches. Serrate scabrous leaves to 100mm x 40mm, puberulent above. Cymes or panicles of pinkish-white flowers, pistillate heads to 5mm x 4mm with bracts, 10-34 pistillate ray flowers, green-white corolla becoming purple to 3mm long, achenes to 1.4mm long & pappus 3m long. 1-3hermaphrodite disc flowers, corolla to 3mm long. Staminate heads 4mm x 3mm with 15-36 hermaphrodite disc flowers, heads 4mm x 4mm with bracts, green-white becoming purple, corolla white to reddish-brown to 3mm long, tubes to 1.8mm long, lobes 1.5mm long & limb to 3mm long. Hispid achenes 1mm long with pappus to 3mm long,
