Liana or herb to 3m. Leaves to 180mm x 90mm with serrate margins. Terminal lax panicles to 400mm long with bracts & bracteoles to 3.5mm, flowers with purple-red bracts to 8mm, flowers to 16 per head, greencorolla to 9.5mm, tube to 5mm, 5-toothed limb to 1.5mm. Achene with white pappus to 8mm long.
