Climbs but usually trails on ground. 4-angled branches, all upper part densely clothed with ferrugineous tomentum. Tendrils opposite leaves. Trilobed dentate leaves, villous above to 170mm x 140mm. Small reddish flowers in dense leaf-opposed cymes or corymbs with a tendril, calyx to 0.75mm x 2mm, 5-6 petals to 1.5mm x 1mm, purplish stamens. Black berries.

Edible fruit. Paste of stem for swellings, sprains & setting dislocated bones.
