Large herbaceous vine with glabrous striate stems & tuberous roots. 3-7 angled or lobed serrated glabrescent leaves to 175mm long. Large panicles of deep reddish-brown flowers in thyrsoid cymes with forked tendrils, petals to 2mm long. Fruit a glabrous edible black berry to 10mm long.
