Creeping or scrambling rhizomatous plant, stems sparsely to densely red-hairy. Nearly glabrous leaf sheath to 20mm diameter. Leaves to 440mm x 90mm, both surfaces yellow to orange hairy. Inflorescence to 50mm diameter, flowers with yellow, white or pale green sepals to 13mm x 2mm aging to reddish-purple in fruit, white petals to 10mm x 2mm with red spiny hairs & minutely fringed margin. Capsule bright purple to 6mm x 4mm with red spiny hairs
