Monoecious or dioecious climber, shrub or tree to 8m with puberulous lenticellate twigs. Crenate leaves to 180mm x 80mm, glabrous above & hairy on nerves beneath becoming glabrescent. Axillary male spikes to 75mm long with bracts to 5mm x 2mm, greenish white male flowers calyx 1mm wide with 2-5 sepals, calyx segmentsgreen with purple margins, pink filaments. Terminal solitary or paired lax female inflorescence to 150mm long with bracts to 3mm long & bracteoles to 1mm long, 5-6 sepals to 0.7mm long. Puberulous 3-4 lobed capsule to 12mm long.
