Scandent herb or subshrub with green glabous stems. Glabrous leaves to 80mm x 40mm. Terminal, subterminal or axillary flower clusters with bracts of red or purple flowers, deep purple coriaceous calyx red towards apex to 30mm x 10mm, corolla lighter red or purple to 50mm x 10mm with bilobed segments to 7mm long.
