Herbaceous cauldiciform climber to 2.5m with tuberous root. 5-parted or 5-foliolate leaves to 250mm x 250mm, leaflets entire or 3-16 lobed. Inflorescence to 80mm long, up to 10 flowered in male, 1-3 flowered in female, tendrils to 120mm long, bracts & bracteoles to 3mm long, flowers red & white at tips. Male flower 40mm x 13mm including 8mm long stipe, calyx tube to 20mm, lobes to 8mm, petals to 10mm x 4mm. Female flower to 18mm x 8mm including 4mm ong stipe, calyx tube to 8mm, lobes to 7mm, petals to 6mm x 2.5mm. Corisceous bright red fruit to 60mm x 35mm.

Used as compress for back pain
