Climbing dioecious twining herb with striated branches to 5m. Glabrous simple leathery leaves to 200mm x 80mm. Axillary cymes to 120mm long terminating in tendril to 200mm long, greenish white to yellow flowers, 30-flowered in male, up to 10 in female, bracts & bracteoles to 1.5mm. Male flowers to 23mm x 8mm including 3mm long stipe, calyx tube to 12mm, 5 calyx lobes to 12mm , petals to 12mm x 2.5mm. Female flowers to 24mm x 9mm including 0.5mm long stipe, calyx tube to 15mm, lobes to 7.5mm, petals to 10mm x 3mm. Coriaceous green fruit to 35mm x 20mm, sometimes with 2mm long beak
