Climber to 6m or erect herb with tuberous roots to 300mm diameter. Mucronate leaves to 150mm x 50mm. Inflorescence to 30mm long, male cymes of 2-50 flowers, female cymes of 1-5 flowers with tendrils to 100mm long, bracts & bracteoles to 2mm. Salmon- pink flowers.Male flowers to 27mm x 5mm including 10mm long stipe, calyx tube to 10mm long, lobes to 10mm long with serrulate fimbriate margins, serrulate petals to 9mm x 2mm. Female flower to 22mm x 6mm including 7mm long stipe, calyx tube to 7.5mm, serrulate lobes to 8mm x 0.3mm, petals to 7.5mm x 1.5mm. Coriaceous yellow or orange capsule to 40mm x 35mm.
