Large tuberous-rooted woody glabrous simple-tendril climber to 25m with woody stems. Glabrous 1-5 foliolate palmate leaves to 200mm x 230mm. Axillary cymes to 80mm long, up to 25 flowers in male, 1-7 in female., tendril to 200mm long, bracts & bracteoles to 2.5mm Flowers white to yellow or light blue spotted pink or reddish. Male flowers to 28mm x 12mm including 6mm long stipe, calyx tube to 11mm long, lobes to 7mm long, petals to 12mm x 1.5mm. Female flowers to 17mm x 9mm including 3mm long stipe, calyx tube to 8mm long, lobes to 7mm long, petals to 8mm x 0.5mm. Orange, yellow or scarlet coriaceous fruit to 50mm x 40mm

Stems very poisonous.
