Large woody caudiciform tendril climber to 30m, stem striped green & white striated branches containing gummy juice. Entire or 3-5 lobed leaves to 110mm long x 125mm wide palemately 3-lobed. Inflorescence to 160mm long, up to 35 flowers in male, 2-6 flowers in female, simple or trifid tendrils to 200mm, bracts & bracteoles to 1mm. Yellow to greenish flowers. Male flower to 20mm x 4mm including 8mm long stipe, with lobed calyx to 6mm long, sepals to 10mm x 3mm, 5 spotted petals to 11mm x 2mm, cream anthers. Female flowers to 8mm x 3mm including 0.5mm long stipe, sepals to 6.5mm x 2mm, petals to 4.5mm x 0.5mm.Yellow coriaceous fruit 50mm x 30mm.

Used as fish poison, leaves edible, medicinal uses.
