Large to medium semi-evergreen climbing shrub with reddish-brown to purple glabrous lenticellate branches, thick leathery glabrescent leaves to 160mm x 50mm with serrulate margins, 1-5 flowered lateral or axillary cymes or fascicles with or without a minute bract, fragrant 20mm off-white to pinkish-red flowers with yellow centres, 5 sepals to 5mm x 3.5mm with ciliate margins, 5 red petals to 10mm x 7mm with whitish or yellowish margins, glabrous ovoid lenticellate dark green to yellow fruits to 20mm x 13mm with white dots with persistent sepals
